The Pallisers
I have been watching this '70's era miniseries for a couple months now (rented from Netflix), and I'm only halfway done. Just tonight - on disc 6 - a new storyline started that I'm not that interested in (Lizzie and her diamonds, pah). Otherwise, the main storyline of the Pallisers (Glencora and Plantaginet) has drawn me in. I only wish cousin Susan (oops, make that) Alice would come back . . . she hasn't been seen since disc 2 or 3. I loved her character and how determined and strong she was.
I think in all there are 24 episodes of this series. It is just fascinating, and great to watch on a lazy Tuesday night (since I don't watch any television shows on Tuesday). Derek Jacobi has already made an appearance, with some fierce sideburns. I can't wait to see what Jeremy Irons looks like in the series . . .
I'm sad that there isn't much on The Pallisers on the internet. It's so good. Of course, as I'm only halfway through, there is plenty of time for it all to go downhill.

I remember when it was first on television. I wasn't very much interested then, because, I think, I was an idiot.
Anyway, is the series good enough, do you think, for you to read the novels? Many times, it's the television that encourages me to read the book.
(A young Derek Jacobi? Hmmm....)
