I got this CD through a day-sale on Amazon (it was only $5 for the mp3 album). I love it as much as I expected to; I've had it on my wish list for months now, ever since I heard them on WNYC's Soundcheck talking about the album and singing songs from it. It's a lovely CD, even if you're not a fan of Robert Plant (I am not). Krauss and Plant's voices just make an amazingly sweet blend. I never would have put the two of them together, but I'm glad they thought to try it, and that we get to enjoy the results.
Favorite tracks include their version of Sam Phillips' "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us" and "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" (see video below).
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
Ha! I was going to suggest this for the QOTD today. Yes, I bought In Rainbows and just downloaded it. I think having the listeners set their own price is a great idea. I paid as much for the new album as I do for about half a month's worth of music on eMusic - $4.65 in dollars (2.5 pounds). A month's worth of eMusic (40 downloads) is $10 for me, since I have an old school subscription plan.
I've only listened to a couple songs, but I like the new Radiohead album so far!
I downloaded Of Montreal's new album off of eMusic yesterday, and I like every song but this one. Actually, I pretty much hate "Faberge Falls for Shuggie."
Is it too raucous and loud for my tastes? I don't know. I think stylistically, it just doesn't flow. There seems to be no vocal pattern. I know that most Of Montreal's songs are out there, but I guess this one's just too far out for me.
I hate deleting songs I paid for.
