What's your favorite appetizer to order at a restaurant?
Hands down, Krab Rangoon at Suzi's. It is the perfect crab/cream cheese/chive mixture in a fried wonton. YUM.
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
Ha! I was going to suggest this for the QOTD today. Yes, I bought In Rainbows and just downloaded it. I think having the listeners set their own price is a great idea. I paid as much for the new album as I do for about half a month's worth of music on eMusic - $4.65 in dollars (2.5 pounds). A month's worth of eMusic (40 downloads) is $10 for me, since I have an old school subscription plan.
I've only listened to a couple songs, but I like the new Radiohead album so far!
When driving alone, what do you do? Sing along to the radio? Think about your day? Something else?
Submitted by carapiccoladiva.
Sing along with the radio, complain about other drivers, ponder my life . . . but sing with my music more than anything else.
I totally rock at Taboo, Trivial Pursuit (regular version), and Scene It. I think Apples to Apples is more of a card game, but I'm pretty good at that. It's so much fun to play, even when you don't win. We played it on July 4th and laughed so much that the people in the neighboring hotel room complained about the noise. What board game are you really good at? Really bad at?
I suck at Risk. The only times I played it were in college, listening to Jars of Clay and trying to get this guy to fall for me. It didn't work, it wasted hours of my life, and I didn't really care much for the premise of the game. I'm happy never to play it again, honestly.
What movie cliché would you most like to live out in real life?
Submitted by Wes.
How about the whole film of Say Anything? Except I'm way too old now to fall in love with someone the summer after high school graduation.
Happy birthday, John Cusack! You used to be my favorite actor (and I had a big crush on you), but your recent movies have really let me down, and now I just feel sorry that your talent is being wasted. And I have other favorite current actors as a result.
I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that. -- Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything
As an added plus for Cusack's birthday:
What sites show up if you type "S" into your browser's address bar?
The Austin American-Statesman site, a Google spreadsheets page, After the Deluge chap. 4, website for Southwest Airlines. These are kinda boring results, actually. Except for the After the Deluge site - if you're not reading the webcomic/nonfiction series on Katrina already, get to it!
What was your favorite TV season finale this year?
Submitted by Kristine.
Even though my beloved Gilmore Girls series ended this season, I think my favorite finale, hands down, was Ugly Betty. It had the laughs we expected, and yet the end was so touchingly done that it had both Leah and I crying. I like to use the excuse that the music in the finale of West Side Story always makes me tear up, but honestly, that was just part of it. See it here (Warning: BIG SPOILERS in this video).
What websites do you visit every day?
Submitted by Chez Michelle.
Wow, a lot. The one I keep up most of the day is my netvibes page, where all my feeds are (including my Vox neighborhood feed!). I visit Austinist since I write for it and need to stay updated. I also check out my Houston Chronicle comics page; since I don't subscribe to the local newspaper, I gotta get all my comics somewhere! Netvibes has this cool module that shows daily comics also, but some of my favorites aren't included. And, yes, I read Apt. 3-G, thanks to The Comics Curmudgeon.
I also visit Pinkdome for state and national political rants, and Bloglines for all the Austin bloggers I read.
I find I visit sites less regularly now since RSS feeds are so prevalent. I do click-through to sites some, but I don't have to have so many bookmarked. For a sample of just how many feeds I keep up with, there are currently 646 items for me to read in my netvibes right now . . . I don't always read them all, but they're there if I want to!
What's the last compliment you gave and/or received?
Submitted by MalieKai.
I just got a nice one today. As far as me complimenting someone else, hmm. I don't hand out compliments easily, but I think I said yesterday that Leah was the best sister ever.
