I think this is the first season I've ever liked EVERY team (well, out of the 9 still in the race, anyway) on CBS' Amazing Race. Sure I have my favorites, but I think the fact that all the teams are quite likable means that each elimination will be that more difficult to watch.
As of this date, our DVR is about 75% full, and it tends to stay that way. Currently on it are all these things we've watched, but I hate to clear off:
- My Sister Eileen - this will probably stay on the DVR til we have to replace it, because it's not available on DVD
- Bachelor Mother - ditto
- Most of Season 2 of Pushing Daisies, even though we've watched all the episodes so far
- our favorite episodes of King of the Hill: "Livin' on Reds, Vitamin C and Propane" and "Revenge of the Lutefisk"
- a recent CBS Sunday Morning which featured a profile on Kristin Chenoweth
- a Lifetime Christmas movie
- a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother from last season and this current one
- an episode of Private Practice
- a couple episodes from this season of 30 Rock
- an episode of Samantha Who?
- an episode of the cancelled series Men in Trees
- an episode from this season of Burn Notice
Leah and I went to the touring "So You Think You Can Dance" show last night. We both left slightly disappointed after too much "Twitchington" and not enough Katee and Joshua. By our counts, Katee and Joshua had two numbers together, whereas Twitch and our most non-favorite Kherington had four together. When we bought our tickets, we assumed there would be more K&J and less "Twitchington". Sadly this was most definitely not the case.
Still, they did end with "No Air", my favorite number of the season - and Mark, Chelsea, Courtney and Gev were all great fun to watch on stage.
Plus we got to chat with Courtney and Gev the afternoon before the show for an interview I will eventually have up on Austinist. Um, as soon as I type up the audio.
I can't wait for August 21, when I'll start watching VH1 regularly after a 7 year break from the channel . . .
I don't agree with Broadsheet. My sister and I saw Margaret Cho a couple years ago and her show was mostly political, not life-affirming pap. I'll judge the show on its own merits, thankyouverymuch. I don't know if it will be as great as Kathy Griffin's show, but I'm going to give it a try!
How could they do this to my show?!?! To make up for this, the original Life on Mars better be available on DVD here in the states real soon.
Ok, I couldn't make it through the whole trailer; I just kept picturing the original scenes in the BBC version. And the sad thing is, I was kinda looking forward to this version. I was gonna give it a try . . . but not if it's anything like this trailer makes it seem.
Last night I set the DVR to record 30 Rock because Al Gore was making an appearance on it. We never watch the show. I tried a couple episodes last year and didn't find them very funny at all. But last night's episode? It made Leah and I scream with laughter. It was so awesome. Al Gore was just the icing on an already great cake.
If you are as green as (or greener than) I am, you must watch it.
And producers, come on and give the writers what they deserve!

I just bought season one of Friday Night Lights on DVD. I have heard that they have a “satisfaction guaranteed” deal with the DVD set, so if you don’t like it, you get your money back. But I’ll be keeping my set.
Now if you rent or buy season one and want to see the episode with our old living room in it (ok, we have moved, but we still have the furniture), it is episode six: El Accidente. My couch, spice rack and dinner table (and more!) are featured in the one-minute scene when Coach Taylor goes to the house of the kid who has been beat up.
Kyle Chandler sat on my couch, y’all. With Panda’s cat hair and all. However short that scene is, we’ll always have that.
